Grapefruit Brulee

Grapefruit Brulee has a crisp burnt sugar layer. The fruit is served over vanilla ice cream for decadent dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 Grapefruit
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar divided. (plus more if needed)
  • 2 dashes salt divided
  • vanilla ice cream.

Instructions

  1. Cut grapefruit in half.
  2. Use a pairing knife to cut the fruit away from the skin. Do not remove the fruit.
  3. Coat the surface of the grapefruit with sugar.
  4. Use a kitchen blowtorch and melt the sugar to a nice golden color.
  5. Sprinkle a dash of salt over the melted sugar.
  6. Scoop out the fruit and serve with vanilla ice cream.
