Blue Mountain Cocktail

Blue Mountain cocktail is a blend of Rum, Kahlua, Vodka and Orange Juice. This unique cocktail tastes just like an iced coffee.

Blue Mountain Cocktail

The Blue Mountain Cocktail has an interesting blend of flavors. Orange Juice and Kahlua would never be a combination I would think to put together.

It looks like iced coffee and as it turns out it tastes like iced coffee too. I have seen recipes that called for fresh lemon juice but I think the orange juice lent a sweeter not sour taste.

This cocktail is named for the famous Jamaican Blue Mountains. I already had the Acapulco Cocktail and loved it so I figured I would continue mixing up famous location cocktails. It sounded like a fun theme to drink too.

For a cocktail named for and created in the Jamaican Blue Mountains (that is famous for their coffee) I am surprised that it doesn’t have actual coffee as an ingredient.

I will be honest, the Blue Mountain Cocktail was good but not one that I could continually drink one after another. I am happy to say I have it crossed off the list.

Which list am I talking about?

How to Find New Cocktail Recipes

For fun, I flip through my New York Bartender’s Guide and find a cocktail that I have all the ingredients for. That is how I found this recipe. It is fun because you try new cocktails that you otherwise may have never tried. Also, there are tons of classics that you can get creative with like this variation of a New York Sour.

Plus this book has about 1300 drink recipes. You could try a new drink every day for 3 1/2 years.
