Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars are a delightful cake-like cookie bar that is soft and will melt in your mouth. Topped with a thin layer of chocolate glaze for just the right amount of richness.
Glaze or Frosting
These Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars can be glazed as shown in the recipe. They can also be frosted with chocolate or vanilla frosting. You can even omit the glaze or frosting all together.
Tips on Cutting the Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars
- Use a sharp knife
- Run knife under hot water before cutting for a cleaner slice.
- Clean the knife blade between each cut.
Some flavors just belong together and chocolate and peanut butter is no exception. These bars are a hit with the kids and adults. I made these for a sweet treat for my boys. I couldn’t keep their little hands out of the tray. Luckily I was able to snap a few a pictures for this post. Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars
Ingredients
- 1 stick of salted butter 8 tablespoons
- 1 1/2 brown sugar firmly packed
- 2/3 cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose unbleached flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup milk
For the Chocolate Glaze
- 1 tablespoon salted butter
- 1/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350F.

Grease a 13x9 baking pan.

In a stand mixer or use an electric mixer combine butter, peanut butter and sugar.

Add in eggs and vanilla and beat at a medium speed until combined.

In a separate mixing bowl mix salt and flour together.

Slowly add the flour alternating with the milk into the mixer. Continue to mix until well blended.

Spread mixture into the prepared pan.

Bake for 28 -30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and center is set.

Let cool before adding the glaze.

For the Glaze

In a microwave safe bowl add the butter, chocolate, and milk.

Microwave in 20 second intervals stirring in between until the chocolate is completely melted.

Stir in the powdered sugar.

Pour chocolate over the peanut butter bars and spread evenly.

Let chocolate set. You may put them in the refrigerator to speed up the setting of the chocolate.

With a sharp knife cut the bars into even rectangles.
