Brown sugar bananas make a great sundae topping, spoon over pound cake, pancakes or french toast. Today I made brown sugar banana sundaes.

Sauteed bananas in a brown sugar sauce, cold ice cream, fluffy whipped cream, and crunchy toasted coconut. Grab a spoon because it only takes a few minutes to whip up this sundae.

The sauce is nothing short of just wonderful. Just looking at this bite with the sauce swirled in the ice cream with the toasted coconut has me daydreaming about it.

Last week I was talking about how my banana obsession outweighed my coconut obsession. After the coconut betrayal I felt obligated to add toasted coconut to the sundae.

The warm brown sugar bananas melting that vanilla ice cream and light crunch of the toasted coconut. Best Sundae Ever. It adds a crunchy texture and nutty flavor. So much YUM!

This recipe is good for 6 sundaes.

Storing Leftovers

If you have leftovers store Brown Sugar Bananas in a airtight container and spoon it over French toast, waffles or pancakes the next morning.

What is better than a dessert than can be turned into breakfast? Nothing!

Brown Sugar Bananas

Brown Sugar Bananas make a delicious topping for sundaes, pancakes, French toast and waffles.

Ingredients

Brown Sugar Bananas

  • 2 tablespoons salted butter
  • 2 large bananas sliced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar firmly packed
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

To Make a Sundae

  • vanilla ice cream
  • whipped cream
  • toasted coconut

Instructions

  1. Heat skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.
  2. Add the sliced bananas, brown sugar, maple syrup and cinnamon.
  3. Saute' mixture for about 5 minutes. The sugar should be melted and you have a sauce.
  4. Remove mixture from heat.
  5. Serve immediately while warm over ice cream, pancakes, French Toast, or pound cake. 

To make a Brown Sugar Bananas Sundae

  1. Scoop individual servings of ice cream.
  2. Pour desired amount of brown sugar bananas and sauce over the ice cream and top with whipped cream and toasted coconut.

To Toast Coconut

  1. Spread coconut flakes out in a single layer and broil on low for about 2 minutes. Keep an eye on the coconut. It will burn very quickly.
