How to Save Money at the Gas Pump.

How to Save Money at the Pump

Every time I share this money saving tip a light bulb goes off in the person’s head. They have a, Why didn’t I think of that, moment. So I want to share it with you so you can start saving at the gas pump.
I have a 23 gallon gas tank so I take advantage of this money saver all the time.

Check out your grocery stores. Most likely at least one of them will offer fuel rewards. They will likely offer you 1 gas point for every dollar you spend. Once you reach 100 gas points you get 10 cents off a gallon. Well that is a nice perk but not a great deal.

Here is how to get a great deal out of those gas reward points. Gift cards are great as gifts but are also great to spend on yourself. Buy gift cards and use like cash at the stores you shop. Some grocery stores may even give you double gas points on gift card purchases. I have even seen promotions where they give you 4x the gas points on select gift cards.

So what is the advantage?
If I am going to Lowes Hardware Store and buying a gas powered blower that will run me $300. I stop by the grocery store first and buy $300 dollars worth of Lowes gift cards to use for my purchase.

My grocery store offers 2x the gas points for gift cards. So if I buy $300 in gift cards that equals 600 gas points which is 60 cents off per gallon of gas. To fill up my 23 gallon gas tank that saves me $13.80.

I never use my debit card to buy iTunes, McDonald’s, or Starbucks. I go ahead and buy gift cards to those stores while I am grocery shopping because I know I will use them.

Since we are talking about grocery shopping if you haven’t signed up with Checkout 51  what are you waiting for? Shop any store, upload your receipt and get cash back!

Find a grocery store that offers gas rewards and browse the gift card kiosk and start saving money at the pump.
