A Bloody Maria is a classic Bloody Mary but with Tequila. Liven up your next brunch with this Bloody Maria recipe.
I do love tequila! We made a big batch of homemade Bloody Mary Mix and brunch turned into a party! The smooth agave tequila blended perfectly with the spicy tomato blend of the mix.
The Bloody Maria is best served with a Mexican-inspired brunch that serves breakfast tacos, chilaquiles, or huevos rancheros.
The Bloody Mary is known as a “hangover cure” and the Bloody Maria is no exception. So after an indulgent Cinco de Mayo, turn to this drink to get you going.
Bloody Maria Ingredients
Making a Bloody Mary with Tequila is no different than making the classic Bloody Mary. The only change is the liquor. Gather your ingredients. You are about to make the best Bloody Cocktail.
- Tequila – The best tequila for a Bloody Maria is Tequila Blanco. My personal favorite is Patron Silver. For my hardcore tequila lovers, try it with a reposado for a deeper flavor.
- Tomato Juice – The best tomato juice for a Bloody Maria is R.W. Knudsen Tomato Juice.
- Celery Salt
- Black Pepper
- Worcestershire Sauce
- Tabasco Sauce
- Lemon or Lime – I enjoy a fresh Lemon wedge squeezed into my Bloody Maria instead of lime but both work wonderfully. This comes down to preference.
You can make our Homemade Bloody Mary Mix Recipe or use a store-bought Bloody Mary mix but this way you can control the seasonings. With the Mexican influence of this cocktail try different hot sauces. Use this recipe as a baseline and get creative!
How to Make a Bloody Maria
To make this Bloody Cocktail you will need a highball glass or any tall glass will do.
- If you want a salted rim crack salt and pepper on a small plate. Take your lemon or lime wedge and rim your glass. Press your glass into the cracked salt and pepper to rim the glass. You do not have to rim the whole glass you can just do one side, or omit it altogether.
- Next, In a cocktail shaker add tequila, tomato juice, celery salt, black pepper, Worcestershire, and Tabasco sauce.
- Shake to really get those seasonings mixed through.
- Pour into your ice-filled highball and garnish! We do not recommend straining because you will lose some of your seasonings.
- Get creative and garnish with celery, spicy pepper, olives, and a lemon or lime wedge. See our full list of Bloody Maria Garnishes below.
