We drink a lot of bourbon around here so of course we are going to take a classic and put bourbon in it instead. The Bloody Mary Drink origin comes from France. A spicy ref off vodka and tomato juice. A fantastic invention that has been the perfect excuse to drink before noon. No questions asked.

Making a Bloody Mary with Whiskey is no different than making the classic Bloody Mary. The only change is the liquor. Gather your ingredients. You are about to make the best bourbon Bloody Mary cocktail.

  • Bourbon – The best bourbon for a Bloody Mary is a low-proof one about 90 proof. We recommend Weller Special Reserve.
  • Tomato Juice – The best tomato juice for a Bloody Mary is R.W. Knudsen Tomato Juice.
  • Celery Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Worcestershire Sauce
  • Tabasco Sauce

You can make our Homemade Bloody Mary Mix Recipe or use a store-bought Bloody Mary mix but this way you can control the seasonings.

How to Make a Bourbon Bloody Mary

To make this Bourbon Bloody Mary Drink you will need a highball glass or any tall glass will do.

  • On a small plate crack salt and pepper. Take your lemon wedge and rim your glass. Press your glass into the cracked salt and pepper to rim the glass. You do not have to rim the whole glass you can just do one side.
  • Next, In a cocktail shaker add bourbon, tomato juice, celery salt, black pepper, Worcestershire, and Tabasco sauce.
  • Shake to really get those seasonings mixed through.

A Bloody Mary Cocktail made with Bourbon Whiskey

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz. Bourbon Whiskey
  • 6 oz. Tomato Juice
  • 1/4 tsp Celery Salt
  • 1/8 tsp Ground Black Pepper
  • 3/4 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/8 tsp Tabasco Sauce
  • Garnish: Celery, Olive, Lemon Wedge
  • Cracked Salt & Pepper for the rim.

Instructions

  1. On a small plate crack salt and pepper. Take your lemon wedge and rim all or part of your glass. Press your glass into the cracked salt and pepper.
  2. Next, In a cocktail shaker add bourbon, tomato juice, celery salt, black pepper, Worcestershire, and Tabasco sauce.

  4. Pour into your ice-filled highball and garnish!
