12 Best Vodka Shots 1

Are you tired of mediocre vodka shots? Look no further, because we got a long list of recipes and the secret to making perfect vodka shooters every time.

Vodka Shots

We’ve compiled expert tips and tricks that will take your vodka shots to the next level. From choosing the right vodka to mastering the art of serving, garnishing for flavor and visual appeal, and experimenting with new flavors – we’ve got it all.

Best Vodka For Shots

While any vodka can technically be used for shots, not all vodkas are created equal when it comes to taste and smoothness.

First and foremost, it’s important to choose high-quality vodka. Avoid cheap, low-quality vodkas that are often made with additives and impurities that can affect the taste and texture of your shots.

Next, consider the flavor profile of the vodka. Some vodkas are known for their smoothness, while others have a more pronounced flavor.

It’s also important to consider the alcohol content of the vodka. Higher-proof vodkas can be harsher and more difficult to drink. The standard proof for Vodka is 80 proof. Aim for a vodka with proof of around 80 for the perfect balance of flavor and drinkability.

We recommend the following Vodkas for smooth shots.

  • Tito’s Vodka – This is our go-to Vodka for all of our Vodka Cocktails and Shots. It is 80-proof and smooth.
  • Grey Goose – Also an 80-proof vodka. We love its flavor and use it in our French Martini.
  • Smirnoff No. 57 – For those with a higher tolerance and seasoned vodka drinkers this Vodka comes in at 100-proof.

We DO NOT recommend using any vodka over 100 proof for shots. We want to have fun and party not puke!!!!

Get the Temperature Right

Another important factor to consider when making the perfect vodka shot is the temperature. Vodka shots are best-served ice cold.

You may be tempted to store your bottle of vodka in the freezer. I did back in my military dorm days. However, this can actually dull some of the complex flavors of the vodka.

It is ok to put Vodka in your freezer for an hour or two before serving. But it really is not needed. When making shots almost all of the below recipes are shaken in an ice-filled shaker.

Shot Glasses

Making vodka shots can be an art and the glass you use can add to that visual appeal. Look for interesting shot glasses in gift shops. These are always good conversation starters too!

I also like looking for unique shot glasses in thrift stores. I have found some pretty unique barware in those types of shops.

Don’t forget to shop on the good old internet.

Vodka Shot Garnishes

Now that you’ve selected your perfect vodka and determined the ideal temperature, it’s time to consider the garnish. Adding a garnish not only adds to the visual appeal of the shot but can also enhance the flavor.

A garnish can add an extra layer of flavor and visual appeal to your vodka shot, making it a more complete and enjoyable experience. There are many different garnishes you can use, depending on your personal preference and the occasion.

Here is a list of garnishes for Vodka Shots to get your creativity going!

  • Citrus – Lemon, Lime, Orange. Whether it be a peel, wedge, or wheel citrus garnishes are perfect for Vodka Shooters.
  • Sweet & Salty rims – Rim your shot glass with sugars or salts. Get creative with gourmet flavored sugar and salts. Another sweet rim garnish idea is chocolate and caramel sauce-rimmed shot glasses.
  • Whipped Cream – Use whip cream as a garnish on cake, Jell-O, and pudding shots.
  • Candy – Candy shots like the Starburst and Gummy Bear should be adorned with candy garnishes.
  • Cherries – We drop a Maraschino cherry at the bottom of our Pineapple Upside Down Cake Shot. The classic cocktail cherry is the most common garnish.
  • Savory Garnishes – Think of olives, jalapeno slices, herbs, or bacon to garnish!

How to Make Big Batches

It’s not just about pouring the perfect amount of vodka and adding a garnish when serving a big crowd. Here are some tips and tricks for serving a group.

On average a mixed vodka shot contains about 1 ounce of Vodka. We have broken down how many shots are in a bottle of vodka.

  • 1.75L Handle of Vodka makes about 60 shots.
  • A 750 mL or 5th of Vodka makes about 25 shots.
