Garlic Alfredo Sauce Recipe

Homemade Garlic Alfredo Sauce Recipe. Rich, creamy, garlicky Alfredo sauce that is perfect over fettuccine noodles or as a dip with garlic bread.

Garlic Alfredo Sauce

This is my signature Alfredo sauce recipe: the perfect blend of robust flavor and extra garlic to take your dinner up a notch. No store-bought version can compare! After countless rounds of tweaks, I’ve perfected this classic from scratch sauce that will blow your dinner guests away. Try it tonight and find out why this is the best homemade Alfredo sauce recipe around.

We love it with chicken and pasta or as a dip with crusty crunchy garlic bread. Another pasta dish that I love dipping crusty bread in is my Creamy Tortellini Tomato Soup. Heaven!

What is Garlic Alfredo Sauce?

The basic Alfredo sauce is a creamy sauce made with butter, heavy cream, and Parmesan Cheese. Adding garlic and Italian seasoning only enhances the flavor of the regular Alfredo sauce.

We start with 2 garlic cloves but feel free to add more. I also add a teaspoon of garlic powder so the garlic flavor really infuses into the sauce.

Ingredients for Homemade Garlic Alfredo Sauce

Read the Prep Tips below so you make the best Alfredo Sauce every time. Making fresh Alfredo sauce from scratch is easy and has common ingredients. You will never go back to the jarred stuff in the grocery aisle.

  • 8 tablespoons of butter, (1 stick)
  • 2 garlic cloves minced – You measure this garlic with your heart. Double it or triple it.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, (half a brick) – softened and cut into cubes for faster melting.
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese – Freshly grate the cheese yourself or buy grated Parmesan cheese in the deli section. Avoid the stuff in green plastic jars in the grocery aisle.

Prep Tips

Prep all the ingredients before beginning this Alfredo recipe. Once you get this sauce going the ingredients go into your saucepan fast.

  1. Have all the ingredients measured and ready. Once the butter melts all your ingredients need to be measured out and ready to be tossed in the pan.
  2. Have your garlic minced.
  3. Have Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper measured out and put into a small dish. These ingredients go into the saucepan at the same time so it is ok to have them all in one small dish.
  4. Cut the cream cheese into cubes for faster melting.
  5. Have the heavy cream measured out and ready to pour.

Do not buy the Kraft Grated Parmesan Cheese you find in the Spaghetti aisle. You need to go to the refrigerated section where the rest of the cheese is found. Get fresh grated Parmesan. It melts better and tastes better.

Leftovers and Reheating

The trick to reheating Alfredo is adding a splash of milk to rehydrate the sauce.

Pour the remaining Garlic Alfredo Sauce into an airtight container and store it in the fridge. Reheat in a saucepan on medium heat and constantly stir.

If it is a small amount you can microwave it. Just heat then stir in 20 to 30-second intervals until heated through.
