The tart flavor of the cherry, the salty bite of the bacon skewered together with a mild Goat Gouda cheese then drizzled with honey for added sweetness. This is an easy to make appetizer with bacon.
When it comes to appetizers the appetizers with bacon are the most popular. Next to cheese appetizers the two always get cleaned out first. The fruit trays is only there out of obligation. If you are going to a friends house for dinner the polite thing to do is ask, “Can I bring anything?”. Well STOP! This is what you are going to bring. It has fruit, it has cheese, and bacon. That honey drizzle is just icing on the cake. No one is going to be disappointed.
Pitting a Cherry
I don’t have a special trick or hack for pitting a cherry. I have a really great cherry pitter that you can buy on Amazon. My only advice is when you are pitting the cherries place the pitter into a deep mixing bowl because some of the juice will spray outward. It is a pretty pink splatter however you don’t want to clean up that mess off the kitchen counter.
Appetizers with bacon go great with whisky and this one was no exception. The sweet and salty of this appetizer paired perfectly with a smooth glass of whiskey on the rocks.
When these 4 ingredients come together in your mouth magic happens, sparks fly and you get a warm feeling inside. If you believe in love at first bite this would be it.
- 20 dark sweet cherries, pitted
- 1/2 lb. Goat Gouda cheese, cut into square slices
- 6-8 slices of bacon, cooked and sliced into square pieces.
- 1/4 cup honey
- 20 toothpicks
