How to Pit a Cherry
I don’t have a special trick or hack for pitting a cherry.
I do have a really great cherry pitter that you can buy on Amazon.
When pitting cherries, be sure to do it over a deep mixing bowl – the juice will likely spray outward, creating a pink splatter that you don’t want to have to clean from your kitchen counter!
Appetizers with bacon go great with bourbon and this one was no exception. The sweet and salty of this appetizer paired perfectly with bourbon neat or an Old Fashioned.

- 20 dark sweet cherries, pitted
- 8 oz smoked gouda, cut into cubes
- 8 Slices of bacon
- 1/4 cup honey
- Cook bacon; pat bacon with a paper towel to remove excess grease.
- Construct the bacon appetizer by stacking a cube of cheese, bacon, and a pitted cherry. Skewer the stack together with toothpicks.
- Place on a serving tray and drizzle with honey.
