It is a good morning now that I have these Baked Mini Cinnamon and Sugar donuts. They are fresh out of the oven, dipped in melted butter, then rolled in cinnamon and sugar. It is sweet morning bliss. Let’s not forget the coffee either.
These are mini donuts. I bought the mini donut pan and developed the recipe for this pan. So you need to get yourself a mini donut pan. This is the one I have and love: Wilton’s Mini Donut Pan it is really inexpensive and it makes perfect mini donuts.
Ingredients for Baked Mini Donuts
Baked donuts are crunchy outside, fluffy inside, and can be custom-made with an irresistible combination of flavors. You can use this basic cake donut recipe as a base. Then get crazy with topping and donut cake flavors.
- All Purpose Flour
- White Granulated Sugar
- Baking Powder
- ground cinnamon
- ground nutmeg
- kosher salt
- large egg
- buttermilk
- melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the cinnamon sugar coating, you will need the following. These ingredients are an addition to the ones listed above.
- Melted Butter
- Sugar
- Cinnamon
How to Make Baked Mini Cinnamon Sugar Donuts
First, Preheat your oven to 350F. Spray the mini donut pan with cooking spray then lightly dust the pan with flour.
Next, In a large mixing bowl mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Set this mixing bowl aside.
In another mixing bowl whisk together the egg, buttermilk, butter, and vanilla. You will pour these mixed ingredients into the large mixing bowl with the dry ingredients. Mix together until well incorporated.
Pour the batter into a piping bag or ziplock bag and cut the end off. Pipe batter into the donut molds about 3/4 of the way full.
*You can spoon the batter into the molds but the bag method is a lot cleaner, faster, and easier.
Place pan into the oven and bake for 15 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
Let donuts cool for a few minutes and flip them out onto a tray.
For the Cinnamon Sugar coating place melted butter in a shallow bowl. In a separate shallow bowl blend together the sugar and cinnamon.
One donut at a time dip both sides of the donut into the melted butter. Repeat the same process with the cinnamon and sugar.
They are now ready to serve!
Storing Leftovers
Store in an airtight bag or container. The donuts are good for 2 days.
