Electric Shark | A Jawesome Cocktail

Hitting the beach or binging on Shark Week this Electric Shark Cocktail made with rum is the only cocktail you will need.

Electric Shark Cocktail

Having a shark week party or just celebrating summer this Electric Shark Cocktail is the one cocktail you MUST HAVE.

More Blue Cocktails

If you need more Shark Week cocktails look no further. These gorgeous blue cocktails will have you swimming with the sharks.

The Blue Lagoon Cocktail is a stunning blue martini made with Blue Curacao and blended with pineapple juice and vodka for a tropical flavor.

Blue Kamikaze Shots is a fun vodka shot with Blue Curacao, vodka, and lime. Make a game out of it and drink every time there is a shark bite.

The Fish Bowl Drink – This super-fun drink looks like a tiny aquarium! It can be served in special round glasses or even an exciting plastic fish bowl. And it’s topped off with colorful fish-shaped candy!

Spiced Rum vs. Blanco Rum

The Electric Shark recipe calls for spiced rum. You can swap out the spiced rum for Blanco/Silver rum. I have made it both ways and they are both good.

Electric Shark Cocktail

Blue Curacao gives this Electric Shark that electric blue color!  Blue Curacao is a liqueur flavored with the dried peel of the Laraha citrus fruit.

Laraha, or Curaçao orange, is the name of a citrus tree that grows on the island of Curacao. The island of Curacao is located in the Caribbean Sea near Aruba.

Ingredients needed to make an Electric Shark Cocktail

  • Spiced Rum
  • Blue Curacao
  • Pineapple Juice
  • Ginger Beer

This is important! Bad ginger beer can ruin a good drink!

I taste-tested ginger beers while making our favorite original Moscow Mule recipe.

Our favorite Ginger Beer is Gosling’s Ginger Beer. You should be able to find at least one of these two ginger beer mixers in your store.

Ginger beer is NOT an alcoholic beverage.

How to Make an Electric Shark Cocktail

Add ingredients except for the ginger beer and garnish to an ice-filled cocktail shaker and shake! Pour over an ice-filled Collins or Highball glass.

Barware

I have to give a shout-out to my friends at JoyJolt for supplying me with the coolest barware.

The glass pictured is from their Revere Collection.

The glasses are unique, triangle, handmade by expert artisans, with an architectural design that will make a lasting impression.

These glasses are sturdy and strong!

Garnish

This cocktail is garnished with a pineapple leaf to give the cocktail that “shark fin”.

How to cut the pineapple leaf:

  1. Select a leaf that isn’t damaged or browning.
  2. Take a pair of scissors and fold back the surrounding leaves as far as you can without damaging them.
  3. Cut the leaf as close to the base as possible. (If you cut the leaf too short it sinks and does not stick out of the cocktail like a shark fin.)

If you don’t want to buy a whole pineapple these garnishes will also work.

  • Luxardo Cherries – The thick dark red syrup on these cherries will give the appearance of blood in your cocktail.
  • Orange wedge
  • Pineapple wedge
